How to Save Money on Your Energy Bills

With energy prices, and energy bills constantly on the rise, every homeowner is looking to find ways to cut back on their energy usage, and ultimately create a more energy efficient/low to run home. Of course, there are many things you can do and implement in and around your home, some will cost you more than others. For example, you could get cavity wall insulation or more adequate wall insulation. When you look at how much heat and energy you lose out of your walls you might want to consider investing in better wall insulation, and the same goes for your roof. How well is your roof insulated? Is it seeping out heat, and would it be worth adding more insulation.

Of course, even small changes such as turning the heat down on your thermostat will help you be more energy efficient, it just depends really how far you want to go. If, for example you wanted to create an energy efficient home for the long term, then it might be worth considering investing in solar panels, or solar heated water if you live in a suitable area. Even though these systems cost quite a bit of money to install in the short term, in the long term they will have paid for themselves, and you will still be reaping the benefits.

Being more energy efficient in and around the home, doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice or even change your lifestyle. For example there are lots of things you can implement within the home that will save energy and make little or no difference to your lifestyle. Things like:

· Shower timers. These are available to purchase both online and offline. Cutting down the amount of time you spend in the shower will help you reduce the amount of energy you use. · Using a dual flush toilet, a Save a flush bag or a Hippo to save water when you flush the toilet. These handy bags save you water each and every time you flush the toilet, which will ultimately cut down you water bills. · Energy saving Light bulbs. These are readily available, and once installed throughout your house you will notice a saving on your energy bills. · Turning off appliances when they are not in use. This will help you cut down the amount of energy you use, and the overall cost of your energy bills. · Not boiling a full kettle. Simple as this may be, only boil the amount of water you need. The savings may only be small per day, but they soon add up.
