Halloween Bell Ghosts

Places that sell things to decorate for weddings, parties, holidays, and other events make it really easy on those of us who love decorating with a lot of hassle. Just open up the item you ordered or bought and hang it, place it on a table, or otherwise use it to prepare for the party. When it comes to decorating for Halloween that’s a good thing because it won’t take much time to get all the eerie and scary decorations in place for guests and trick-or-treaters. But, instead of buying Halloween-theme decorations this year, head for the aisle where they sell wedding decorations. That’s right, wedding decorations that you purchase in party stores are perfect for making Halloween ghosts that stand on the floor, a table, or elsewhere in your home. But these ghosts you make won’t scare anyone; they’re simply too sweet.

Have you ever seen those white wedding bells that some people use for decorating a wedding reception room? They’re just cardboard and paper but they’re really pretty. They come in various sizes and, when you buy one, you simply open it up, bring the ends together, and you have a gorgeous, white paper bell. Of course, a white wedding bell won’t fit in with your Halloween theme so do a little something to the white bell and it will quickly become an adorable ghost. With a couple of inexpensive materials you can turn the bell into a cute ghost.

Cut eyes and a mouth out of black construction paper, felt, or fabric. Glue or tape the eyes and mouth onto the front of the paper bell. Use cheesecloth to finish the ghost. It’s mostly sold at stores which sell cooking supplies but you can easily find it online. It’s a white, netting-type material with a slightly waxy feel. Just cut a circle which is large enough to completely cover the bell with a little extra hanging on the floor. Instead of cheesecloth you can use tulle or similar netting after folding it a few times.

Make wedding bell ghosts to set on the floor and more to set on a table. Make tiny ghosts for a mantle or a group of assorted sizes of ghosts to greet your visitors. Do you have a wedding which is fast approaching, too? Just tape the features to the ghosts and you can easily remove them and use the bells for the wedding.
