Great Places to Visit in the Prince William County, Manassas Areas, Surrounding Areas

I opened the News & Messenger Serving Prince William County, Manassas, Manassas today to find a Jewel of a supplement called “Roam” which lists 20 Destinations “close to home” to enjoy and visit within a 60 mile radius. I found a place I thought the people of Manassas, Manassas Park, and surrounding areas may also be interested in going to.

I, for one, have never heard of some of these exciting places to visit and to dine, and I’m certainly going to take advantage of them since gas is so expensive. I love fine places to dine, and I could not help but have an interest in the “Girasole Restaurant”, 4244 Loudoun Ave., The Plains, Virginia, Telephone 540-253-5501 for reservations and other particulars, it’s location is a short distance from several areas in Manassas and other surrounding areas, which was listed in the supplement booklet.

The restaurant is reminiscent of Italy and it is located in a rolling country side location with a touch of European Charm and grace. The word “Girasole”, means sunflower — the restaurant Cserves world-class northern Italian cuisine. All of their foods are made from seasonal local produce and naturally raised meats and the freshest of other ingredients.

Bread which is crusty on the outside and chewy inside — dipped in hand-pressed oil and Italian spices is made daily, as well as, as pastries — much like our French friends, “Boulanger patisserie”. The smell of the bread and pastry fills the air in and outside the restaurant, and an aroma of chocolate and hazelnut bursts through the air as diners are being served their deserts.

Of course, if you’re like me, I’m interested in their award-winning menu which features veal, fish, pasta and may include game, morsels and truffles which are hand selected from Italy. Don’t worry, the basic menu is simple, and the owner and Chef, Louis Patierno has created 10 to 15 specials to have on the menu as well — these are available every night.

If you plan on visiting and you love truffles, sampling a variety of wines, ask at the restaurant to be put on their mailing list for their announcements of events.

I will keep you posted of the other destinations to visit in the future, where you, your family, and friends can visit and you don’t have to drive for hours. There’s lots to see in Prince William County, the Manassas area, and surrounding areas. The fun is there for you and your’s to enjoy.
