Fox News Further Derails GOP’s Claim

We all have heard the GOP’s constant claim that raising taxes on the “job creators” is why they oppose any movements to decrease unemployment and get the nation back to work. In the beginning many had come to believe it and support it but lately the public is waking up to a different realization thanks in part to the exposure of this myth by National Public Radio (NPR). John Stossel felt compelled to step up and save this lie but only managed to bring on further damage to the claim.

Mr. Stossel, who made a name for himself by investigating those stories other journalist was afraid to touch. He made his name by refusing to accept things as they seemed and kept digging until he got to the truth. He was a very trusted journalist for those of us who are less interested as to what was being reported by the lesser journalist and more interested in the real story. I remember having to stop what I was doing when Mr. Stossel made his report because it would always prove educational. That was then and this is now.

On his show which takes the manicure of his last name, he presented David Park, Brad Anderson and Tom Stemberg. These three men, many may not have ever heard of before but one of them we all know based on the business that he founded. Tom Stemberg founded Staples and any business owner of any type is very glad he did. Mr. Stemberg said something that he knew was not the truth and managed to help me decide on Office Depot for all of my personal and business needs from now on. He did mention one thing that I could agree with. He said that many of those who started their business did not do it to make millions of dollars, they did it because they saw a need and were witness to people being mistreated, so they began their journey to make things right. He mentioned that many less fortunate Americans think that all millionaires and billionaires are greedy but he could have not been further from the truth. Less fortunate Americans do not begrudge the 1% as a matter of fact we hold them in such high esteem that we all try to emulate them. They are our role models and we look at them as our road map to a better life.

Not sure what Brad Anderson’s claim to fame was but did noticed that David Park was attributed with selling 28 different businesses. His take was that it was hard to financing and the raising of taxes would make more job creators sit on their hands. My thought is what does Mr. Park call the last 8 years where those who were getting these tax breaks created fewer jobs in 8 years than has been created in the last 3? He reminded me of Mitt Romney and being a native of Korea makes me wonder if he really did endure the same kind of obstacles that African-Americans and Hispanics native to America have had to face?

Bottom line this argument of not raising taxes on the job creators is wearing very thin and soon it will be as transparent as glass. The public will finally see that refusing to raise taxes on the job creators while seeming to rejoice in the raising of taxes on the middle class and poorest among us, was just a ploy to deceive just like running for office with the pledge of creation jobs.
