The Clark County Library holds free screenings of 2011 family films for its Saturday Family Flix movie series from Sept. 24 to Nov. 26, 2011. The library features two recent animated films and an animal documentary for this fall program. “Rango”
The computer-animated movie “Rango” screens on Sept. 24. This film tells the story of an adventurous pet chameleon who loves to act out as a heroic character and big-time star. A travel accident leads him to the western town of Dirt, where he becomes the town’s sheriff. As the people’s protector, he needs to solve the case of their missing water supply.
The humiliated Rango loses his image of greatness and self-worth after the shocking revelation about his real character. He leaves his pretentious self behind when he discovers the truth about the town’s water problem. From there, he tries to be the true hero the people desperately need.
“African Cats”
The library holds the screening of the Disneynature film “African Cats” on Oct. 22. This documentary explores the lives of wild animals in Africa. Its main story revolves around the families of wild cats in the region. The story focuses on the touching mother and cub relationships among families of tigers, lions, and many other animals and how they adjust and struggle in their unpredictable lives in the wild. This film offers many breathtaking images that bring viewers deeper into the social realities happening among animals.
“Kung Fu Panda 2″
“Kung Fu Panda 2,” the second installment in the “Kung Fu Panda” franchise, screens on Nov. 26. For this sequel, Po is already living his dream as the Dragon Warrior. Serving as the protector of the Valley of Peace, his life of awesomeness is now being completed by the company of his friends and fellow kung fu masters known as the Furious Five.
A new murderous villain arrives and threatens to use a weapon that can destroy kung fu and conquer China. Po and his fellow warriors must stop him. But first, Po needs to overcome some crippling memories from his past. In doing so, he can find true inner peace, uncover some mysterious secrets, and unlock the strength he needs as a warrior.
