Cheap Date Ideas for Newly Married Couples

What is one of the things you hear most when reciving advice about how to keep your new marriage stong?

KEEP GOING OUT ON DATES!!!!!

Which can be pretty hard if you affected by the economy as my husband and I are. In this article you will find some idea’s that my husband and I use to keep our marriage fun even when money is tight!!

1. Eating in instead of going out!

My husband and I are able to buy our groceries but when it comes to going out it can get a little expensive!!! (I’m talking about going out to a nice “sit-down” kind of place, not fast food) So instead of going out and spending a ton of money on one meal we cut the cost in half by having a special dinner at home. One way to do this is to eat somewhere in your house where you don’t usually eat to change it up. For example if you eat in the living room eat at the table, light some candles and set the tone of your dinner with wine or cider. If you always eat dinner at the table, lay a blanket down on the living room floor and have a little picnic! A couple things I like to do with this particular example is put tea light candles (little floating candles) in a big glass bowl and let them float on the water, and/or you can dig out strings of white christmas lights and hang them across the living room, close to the ceiling, going from one side of the room to the other (like your eating under the stars!).

2. Find fun, “cheap” hobbies to do outside of the house!

There are so many things to do outside. The trick is to find something that you and your spouse both enjoy doing! One idea could be to walk to a local park and play on the swings or you could just hold hands and talking. Another idea could be to go fishing, this is something that my husband and I enjoy doing. You only have to buy fishing licenses once a year, fishing poles once (unless you are really hard on stuff), and bait when you are ready to go!! Going for a little drive to somewhere significant to both of you. Other ideas could be hiking, hunting, bike riding, swimming, sledding, or taking pictures of the area or each other.

3. Just keep it fun!!!

A few other things that my husband and I really like to do are cuddle and watch movies, cook or dance together. We either turn on some music and dance or take turns singing to each other.

Ladies: Remember to “light up” for him. Be his playmate; play a little hide and seek, get him to chase you around the house, or play video games (if that is something that he likes to do)

Guys: Hug and kiss her as soon as you walk in the door whether it be from work, the gym, or if you were just out with the guys. If you leave the house offer to take her with you. Don’t hesitate to hold her hand.

These are some great ideas to keep your marriage fun and alive even in this crazy economy!!!
