COMMENTARY | The word boring isn’t the first word I’d think of when describing talented actress Jennifer Aniston. Apparently, though, it seems to be the new word for her this week. Both Yahoo! OMG and The Washington Post used the “B” word to describe Aniston in regards to her fashion and long talked-about marriage to Brad Pitt.
Her Boring Fashion
It isn’t a surprise that Aniston made People magazine’s “Best Dressed List.” But according to OMG! writer Erin Carlson, the title is a snooze because the people who made the list, including Aniston, rarely took risks in fashion.
So what exactly is a fashion risk? Is it something gaudy? Or maybe it is something see-through or showing too much skin? Whatever it is, it really isn’t a comparison when talking about a “Best Dressed” list. Aniston is one of the most classy and elegant women of Hollywood. She portrays that in the way she dresses. It says a lot about a society when there are those who expect a “Best Dressed” list to consist of those who have shown no taste in selecting their wardrobe. Isn’t that kind of backward?
Her Boring Marriage
By the way Brad Pitt talks in his interview with Parade, Sarah Ann Hughes of The Washington Post construes that to mean that a “boring” marriage with Aniston is what propelled Pitt to seek a more exciting life with Angelina Jolie. Maybe that’s exactly what Pitt meant. Maybe not.
But it’s important to remember that as much as it takes two people to get married, it takes two to break down the marriage. To find that Pitt isn’t taking responsibility for his role in the breakup with Aniston is disappointing. No one made him hide out on his couch smoking a joint. From the sound of things, Aniston wasn’t the boring one. To put things in an even better perspective, I wonder if Pitt thought his marriage was “something that it wasn’t” after he met Jolie.
It’s unfortunate that one of the most elegant women in Hollywood has to be put in such a negative spotlight. I suppose the media in general are just upset she’s not giving them more fodder to work with.
