A Review of Ocean Market Tilapia Fillets

I am a seafood lover and fish fan. When I came across a pack of Ocean Market Tilapia Fillets in the frozen foods section of my local Dollar Tree store, I could not resist them. These looked very promising. I decided to purchase them, try them out and write a food product review all about my personal experience with them. Here is what I discovered!

I bought one pack of Ocean Market Tilapia Fillets for only one dollar. Gotta love that very low price. Each pack has two fillets in it. They are individually wrapped. I discovered that this fish is low in fat, low cal and protein packed. Awesome. These are farm raised tilapia. The package is bright blue and also see through. It has a picture of the fillets on the outside of it. They looked wonderful. I could not wait to taste these!

This fish is perfect for microwave cooking. Wow! You can also pan fry them or prepare them in a conventional oven. I chose to microwave them. I cut a slit in each pack, on each side, placed the fillets on a microwave safe plate and cooked them on high for three minutes. I then let them stand for one minute before removing from packet and serving. These smelled great and looked terrific. When I tasted Ocean Market Tilapia Fillets, I liked them. But. There is a but here, for sure. The middle dark part in these fillets is quite fishy tasting. Too strong, in other words. Most of the fillets were delicious. I just cut out the dark streak running through the middle of each fillet. Overall, these are fantastic and worth the little amount of money that I spent on them. This company has flounder fillets and I do like those much better than these.

I rate Ocean Market Tilapia Fillets three stars out of five stars. I probably will not be buying them again. Still, they were fun to try. One serving or pack has only 93 calories in it. Just 9 of those calories are from fat. Fabulous! One serving has 1 gram of total fat, wow, 0.5 grams of saturated fat, 0 grams of tran fat, 55 mg’s of cholesterol, 37 mg’s of sodium, 0 grams of total carbs, 0 grams of dietary fiber, 0 grams of sugars and 19.5 grams of protein. This dish does contain a small amount of iron in it.

I enjoyed trying Ocean Market Tilapia Fillets and writing this product review about them. They save me time spent in the kitchen and money. These are also very diet friendly. That is a plus. The strong fish taste is there, just in the dark strips of fish, so it is easy to eat around them. The white fish fillet part is yummy.
