Women and Congestive Heart Failure

Have you ever had someone in your family, or a close friend, suffer from congestive heart failure? You may have read that my mother went through all the suffering and time consuming, expensive, and even painful treatments to combat this problem. I wish I would have known about this information back when she was going through all of that, it might have saved here a lot of suffering. Although the doctors that she went to pretty much came to the conclusion that the majority of her symptoms were a result of obstructive sleep apnea, I have to wonder if the proper care would have made a big difference in how things turned out.

This is one medical problem that really likes to rear its ugly head with in women. It is commonly believed that the reason for this is hormonal imbalance. And heart failure drugs sometimes make the cure worse than the disease. Doctors usually prescribe the usual medications for this problem, such as digoxin, furosemide, and potassium. But there are an abundance of natural products that can help, if not totally alleviate, the occurrence of congestive heart failure, in the first place. The most common and most often recommended procedure is to start with B6 and magnesium injections, taken intravenously. This may sound a bit troublesome and expensive, but it is actually the best way to deliver these substances. In the case of congestive heart failure, it is best to deliver the magnesium by relatively rapid IV injection. The reason for this is that when heart failure has occurred, the muscle cells are usually too weak to extract the magnesium they need from the blood stream, and the fast injection method floods the cells directly with the much needed magnesium. The rapid injection the muscle cells work better and recover much faster. Even though the IV injections are a bit of a bother, it is works faster, allows the cells to recover at a more rapid rate, and is relatively cheap. And once the cells are flooded with magnesium by forced injection, they continue to uptake magnesium on their own.

Some other recommendations that need to go along with the above treatment is the addition of Coenzyme Q10, usually at a dosage of 60 milligrams three times daily. This supplement is valuable in cellular metabolism, and is found in the mitochondria, the energy engines of every cell. This is an important supplement that is found in every cell, but as we grow older, our bodies produce less and less of it. Use this along with DHA (docosahexaenoic acid), which helps lower blood pressure. It is an omega-3 fatty acid, a metabolite of the essential fatty acid alpha-linolenic acid. The second addition to this important treatment that is recommended is L-carnitine. This wonderful supplement will sometimes take care of congestive heart failure all by itself. It enhances the heart muscle cells to utilize more energy sources and burn the energy more efficiently. This naturally occurring amino acid works together with another naturally occurring amino acid, Taurine, to help the muscles keep working. It is the most prolific amino acid found in the heart, and is well known for keeping the electrical energy of the heart operating smoothly. Take 1,500 milligrams twice daily between meals. All other supplements can be taken at any time. The solid extract form of Hawthorn is the other super supplement that should be added to your daily regiment, at a rate of 250 milligrams three times daily. This super power delivers better energy production in the heart muscle cells and provides better muscle contraction. It also dilates

the coronary arteries, providing better blood flow. And because it acts as a mild diuretic, it can help lower cholesterol, and slow and possibly reverse atherosclerosis.

This program is by no means a prescribed certainty, but is a guideline for helping in the recovery and prevention of this deadly disease. It can help and even eliminate the need for expensive, and often dangerous drugs, that would otherwise be the only recourse some people have to aid in their recovery. These super supplements can even help get you off of water pills and help you sleep better. Once the recovery is well under way, the IV injections can be stopped, and the magnesium can be delivered in capsule form, along with the other minerals listed above. And it will help you get your strength back. I would suggest to those with any family history of this ailment that you start taking these supplements as soon as you can to prevent this from happening in the first place.
