Volkswagen Announces Polo R and Passat Exclusive Special Versions

The new generation Volkswagen Passat, considered by many to be just a major facelift of the mid-size sedan, was presented, ever since its debut, as an elegant and stylish limousine. However, it looks like the German carmaker wants to show that the Passat can also offer even more, so they recently unveiled the Exclusive version.

On the other hand, the Volkswagen Polo R is much closer to reality even though this time we’re only talking about a styling package available for the Comfortline and Highline trim levels, without any performance upgrades at all.

Available exclusively on the German market, the two new versions have only received styling upgrades, Volkswagen’s engineers taking a break this time.

The package for small Volkswagen Polo R includes 16- or 17-inch alloy wheels available with a special design, sporty bumpers which will be immediately spotted by Volkswagen high-performance R models fans, the rear bumper also featuring an integrated air diffuser. The side sills complete the small hatchback’s sporty look, while the interior also features the same competition feeling, Volkswagen equipping the Polo R with sports seats covered in Alcantara leather, aluminum pedals and exclusive Piano Black dashboard inserts.

The other special version, the Volkswagen Passat Exclusive is targeted at more picky customers, that didn’t consider the Passat to be exclusive enough for their tastes and instead opted for other models regarded as being more premium, like the Audi A4 or the Mercedes Benz C Class. The Passat Exclusive is available with large 18-inch wheels, a more sportier suspension system, fine Nappa leather upholstery for the interior, available in a new chocolate color, which gives a little more elegance feeling to the entire interior and perfectly matches the wood or aluminum ornaments available for this model.

The fact that we’re not dealing with a regular Passat is immediately pointed out by the “Exclusive” inscription on the side sills which will be available on both sedan and station wagon models.

Like we said before, the official press release issued by Volkswagen mentions the two models will only be available in Germany. But we have to admit, we’d like to see them available on other markets too, because I’m pretty sure a lot of people would enjoy one of these two versions. And this was probably taken into consideration by Volkswagen, but the German carmaker first needs to see how the two models are selling before risking and making them available for other markets too, including the rest of Europe, the United States and Asia, why not, even though this market is know to be more attracted to cheaper cars.
