The White House Tour

One of the must-do things whenever you are vacationing in D.C is the White House tour. Before my parents and I headed inside we were made to go through detectors to make sure we were not carrying anything we should not. My mother and I placed our things in the tray and went through with no problem. My father on the other hand set off the detector twice and it was after the second time that the extremely intimidating secret service agents in the corner who were busy talking into their sleeves asked him to step into the corner so they could run the wand over him. At this point my mother and I are both extremely mortified and we quietly slip around the corner as if to say, “We don’t know him!” It turned out that the case my father kept his sunglasses in had a metal lining in it that nobody knew about. They let him through with no further problems after that but still the fact remained: My father had just got searched by the secret service! I did not know whether I should think that was awesome (I was only about 13 at the time, so can you blame me?) or if I should have been completely embarrassed. Of course now that I sit here years later reflecting upon it, it definitely makes for a good vacation story!
