April 20th, 4045 (Terran Time)
Tavi sat on Gammi’s knees trying to listen to the old woman’s quavering voice. The smoke from Gammi’s burning cigarette’s glowed eerily as the tv flashed from commercial to commercial and lit their skin in unnatural colors. Gammi was trying to tell Tavi something important but she kept coughing. Then Gammi convulsed so hard Tavi fell on the floor. Blood covered Gammi’s hands and dripped onto the floor. She grabbed Tavi’s face and whispered raggedly into her ear, “Go, before they smell the blood,” The scent of death surrounded Tavi and she ran from the only home she had known.
