Step-by-Step Instructions to Make Your Little Monster Bags

Note: These instructions will use the color scheme as shown in the article photo.

Cut the monster treat bag body using purple paper. Select the Treat Bag 2 using the Mini Monsters cartridge. I cut the example in the article photo at 6 inches which is a good size to hold a few treats. Cut the monster mouth, handles, and wings using Layer 1 at 6 inches from green polka-dotted paper. Cut the horns using Shift + Layer 1 at 6 inches from orange paper. Cut the eyes and teeth using Layer 2 at 6 inches from light gray paper. Use your scissors to cut a tongue shape from the orange paper. Take brown or black ink and apply it to the edges of the purple body as well as the green and orange accent pieces. Take gray ink and apply it to the edges of the eyes and teeth. Glue the teeth to the purple body. Glue the mouth to the purple body just below the teeth. Use the black pen and draw a line down the middle of the tongue, making sure to stop at the halfway point. Layer the tongue in the middle section of the mouth and glue. Use the black pen to draw pupils on the eyes. Apply the eyes using the ¼ inch adhesive squares to give them added dimension. Glue the green handle sections to the purple body, one on each side. Use your eyelet setting tool to punch 1 hole along the top of the front green handle and 1 hole on the bottom of the purple body and next to the mouth. Apply a black eyelet to the green handle. Insert a black spider brad to the front of the purple body. Use the black pen to draw a spider web from the eyelet to the spider. Draw some eyebrows above the eyes. Score along the purple body folding lines. This step will make the folded edges crisper. Glue the purple body side tab in place. Fold the bottom purple body pieces and glue in place. Insert the orange horns into each body side. Apply glue to the inside portion of the orange horn and hold in place for a few seconds. Bend the orange horn forward on the outside so that it faces towards the front. Repeat with the second horn and the green wings. Cut the Halloween themed tissue paper with decorative edged scissors. Add the tissue paper and some treats!

These cute little monster treat boxes are great to give as teacher gifts or to hand out as party favors. Have fun trying different paper and embellishment combinations. I found all of my supplies at Michael’s including the Halloween themed papers and the spider brad. If you cannot find the Mini Monsters cartridge at a local store, then you can order it from the Cricut site directly.
