How to Narrow or Broaden Your Nose with Makeup

Many people are unhappy with their nose; some find their nose too narrow, while others find their nose too broad. The use of dark and light shadows on your face can instantly transform your nose. Darker shadows hide your flaws while the lighter ones highlight and bring out your features. Instead of resorting to time-consuming, risky and costly plastic surgery, use makeup to enhance your nose.

Making a Broad Nose Appear Smaller:

The only things you need to make your nose less prominent are foundation and translucent powder. Use a foundation that is one shade lighter than your skin tone, and a foundation that is one shade darker. Test the foundation on your jaw line. Avoid using a foundation that is more than two shades darker or lighter, because these are too obvious.

Use a foundation brush to draw a vertical line along the outer edges of your nose. Use the darker foundation to camouflage the width of your nose. Start at the inner corner of your eyebrow and work downward, along the side of the nose, toward the edge of your nostrils.

Apply a vertical line with the lighter foundation over the middle of your nose. Work down from the area between your eyebrows. Slide the brush over the bridge of your nose all the way to the tip of your nose. Blend the borders of the two different foundation colors with your fingertips to make the color difference less obvious. Dust translucent powder over your nose to set the foundation.

Making a Narrow Nose Appear Wider:

If your nose is narrow, you must again use dark and light shadows to hide and enhance it. You basically reverse the colors used to make your nose smaller. Make a vertical line with the lighter foundation on each side of your nose, starting at the eyebrows. The light foundation emphasizes the width of the nose.

Make a vertical line with the darker foundation down the middle of your nose. Blend the edges of the colors with your fingertips and set the foundation with translucent powder.

Tip: Always apply your makeup in a mirror positioned in a well-lit room.
