How to Find the Most Walkable Neighborhoods, so You Can Stop Paying Those High Gas Prices

Gas Prices are getting higher and higher, and most of you dont have a short commute to your job, but one solution to your problem, would be to search and find and move to a more walkable neighborhood, so you could be closer to your job, and in this article you will find out how to do that.

Step. 1

Now go to your computer, and type in www.walkscore.com , and when you get to the web page, on top the lefthand side of your computer screen, you will see a light blue house icon, and next you will see “Walkscore” and under that, you will see “Cities And Neighborhoods” “Why It Matters” “How It Works” and ” Add walkscore to your site and blog”, and under that, you will see the words “Get your Walkscore”.

Also under that, you will see “Type an address or place” in the serch box, and when you click on that, the ” Type an address” will disappear, and then you will type in the address, you are interested in, and click the blue button with “Go” on it.

Step. 2

Now go back to the top of the web page to, “How it Works” That I told you about earlier, and you will then click on that, and that willtake you to the web page “How the Walkscore Works” The walkscore is a number between 0-100, with 100 being the highest score, and this measures, the walkability of any address, and here are the catagories and scores.

90-100- Its a Walkers Paradise
70-89- Its Very Walkable

50-69- Its Somewhat Walkable
25-49- Its Car- Dependent
0-24- Its Also Car- Dependent

But the difference here is, almost all of your errands, require you to have a car.

Step. 3

Now you will go back, to the homepage, and type in your address, and once its finished, calculating your chosen address walkscore, on the left hand side of your computer screen, you will know what your chosen address walkscore is, and whether its a walkers paradise etc.

Step. 4

Now under that you will see “Overview” “More Amenities” “Your Commute” but right now, we are going to look at “Overview”, and under that, on the left hand side of your computer screen, you will see a column, starting with “Restaurants”, and you will click on “Restaurants, and it will show you all the restaurants, closest to the address you have chosen, and how many miles each restaurant is, and that aplies to all the other catagories like , groceries, schools, shopping , etc.

Step. 5

Now on the right center of your computer screen, you will see a map, and a blue house icon where the the address you typed in is located, and you will click on it, and you will see the address, you typed in, and in the top right hand corner of the map, and will click on “street view” and get a live view of the address you typed in. Now if you click on restaurant, there will be an knife and fork icon, and for schools, a graduation cap icon, and for shopping, an shopping bag icon, and for groceries, a shopping cart icon.

Step. 6

Now If you click on “Amenities” It will go to a page, where you can select and add, more places addresses to do a walkscore on, and if you click on “Your Commute” you will be able to see how long it takes, you to commute from the address, you typed in, to another address if you were walking, biking or driving.
