Many college students buy a 6-12 month installation of IBM’s Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS), a predictive data analytics software package used for data mining and analysis, which is offered because of their studies at a University. First Step: Write Down All Information About Your License Key
When you purchase your SPSS version, you will be given a license key, write it down on a piece of paper since you will have to hand type in this information.
Second Step: Read the Read Me File of Installation Instructions
Note: when you install your SPSS software, you are told step by step what to do, but it is often difficult to install and read at the same time. You may want to print the readme file out before starting. You may mess up when you see the information about licensing and choose the temporary free trial license instead of telling the install process that you have a license. If you want to test the software first before buying and use the temporary license, you will still have to do the next steps when you install the new version.
Third Step: Uninstall the SPSS Software with the Temporary Key
To uninstall SPSS on your computer, click Start> Settings > Control Panel > Uninstall
A list of the installed products on your computer will be presented. Click on the SPSS tab. Do not try reinstall, there is no facility to change the license date. Click on Uninstall.
Fourth Step: Rerun the Install Using the Downloaded Module From Your Downloads Folder on Your Laptop
Click the Module found on C:/Downloads and run it. When asked for the license key enter it into the form provided.
When you are finished with the install and it is verified as a proper licensed version, you will be able to use SPSS again.
