When I go grocery shopping, I got to four different places – Fresh and Easy Markets, Sprouts, Trader Joes, and Valley Produce. There are a lot of options of where to get healthy, delicious food here in Los Angeles which is great if you want variety.
I go to Fresh and Easy because if I want a healthy meal that is premade and all I have to do is put it in my microwave; you know Fresh and Easy has options. I usually don’t eat premade frozen dinners because of the chemicals but when you buy something at F&E you know it’s fresh. They are very convenient for people who live on their own including 99 cent fruit/veggie options and premade salad choices.
Sprouts has become one of my favorite places on earth because it is organic and fresh too. It is down the block from my house and very affordable. I prefer going here then big chain markets because of the employee helpfulness and I can buy a whole cart of groceries ranging from cereals, veggies, fruit, meat, cheese and snack and only pay less than $20. I feel less guilty about what I spend and I know I will leave with a healthy stock of food to last me a week or two.
I grew up shopping at Trader Joes and they have a lot of food choices that other places don’t offer as much of. I am obsessed with their pomegranate yogurt with granola and their milk is relatively cheap and great with my favorite cereal. They also offer low acid coffee which has made my tummy smile! I can always count to leave with a whole cart of different healthy options that is fresh. Their variety of salads have me coming in weekly and trying a new one each week. I can take their food where ever I go and not worry about it going bad.
Once in a while I like to buy veggies in bulk – maybe make homemade soups or salads at Valley Produce. I can get a whole basket off veggies like broccoli, carrots, lettuce, potatoes, tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, and so forth and only pay $2! Such a bargain and its quality. I feel like going is a veggie flea market! It is never empty and people always leave happy. Quality food with a taste of Middle Eastern background which is extremely refreshing in Los Angeles!
