Breadbox Electronics Station

Even the neatest home can have things out of place. You lay a book down after reading for awhile; you leave an empty drink glass on your night stand. You lay a sweater over the arm of a chair and forget to put it away. Still, if you’re a person who loves a very neat home you try to keep everything in its place. But don’t those cell phones and other devices lying around on their chargers bug you? If members of your family own cell phones, iPods, and similar, small gadgets it seems that they’re everywhere. One is charging on the desk; another is charging on a counter top. For a really neat person cell phones and such are a minor problem. But they won’t be after you make a breadbox electronics station.

A wooden bread box is the perfect box to make an electronics charging station. There are, however, many other things you could use. An old jewelry box or even a cigar box will work to help you get all of those electronics organized.

You don’t have to be any kind of carpenter to use a drill. You just place the drill bit on the wood and pull the trigger. Just hold the drill steady and you’ll make the perfect hole every time. For a bread box or jewelry box you’ll likely have to use a drill. If you’re using a cigar box to make the electronics station you can just create the holes with a nail, screw, ice pick or similar implement. You’ll need one hole for each device.

After making the holes in the breadbox or other object thread a cord through each hole. Go in from the backside and push the cord through the hole, to the inside. If you want, you can create sections by sliding pieces of cardboard, thin wood or Styrofoam between each phone, iPod or other electronic device.

You have a choice in how you set the electronics on the inside of the breadbox. You can set them side-by-side, or you can turn them sideways so that you have room for more.

You can create a stand for each electronic device by gluing in Styrofoam pieces. Cut a groove in the top of each one to create the form you need for that particular device.

The breadbox electronic station can help you organize several devices so that they’re all charging and stored in the same location. Now, back to that book you were reading –
