A Walk Through the Graveyard

I see it every day:
Just across the railroad,
Hidden by the trees
And all the powerlines.
I don’t know anyone buried there,
But every now and then
I like to drive on over
And just walk through.
I can’t explain why
I find it so relaxing:
Walking in the daylight,
Reading every headstone,
Wondering about the life
That each person led.
Then suddenly I realize
The true purpose of
Every graveyard out there
All of these markers are
There to remind us that
We’re never completely forgotten.
