Q: I just got my belly button pierced around 4 days ago…i have been using saline solution religiously (about 2 times a day) sometimes squeezing in a salt water soak as well….i have been gently cleaning it with the medicated ointment that the piercer gave me and cleaning it while i shower…but i STILL have redness around the top part and it stings…when i sit down or even move my body the ring slips up and the top ball sticks out of the piercing…is the ring too big? is it already infected? also my job involves a lot of bending over and moving around so should i tape it up so it doesn’t move? what should I do if it is infected (besides take it out)any help is greatly appreciated! thanks!

A: I used to have my bellybutton pierced (my body rejected it) The piercer may have pierced it wrong, it might be infected or your body is rejecting it also. I would go back to the piercer or your doctor and have it checked out. It probably shouldn’t still be sore and loose after 4 days. Stop messing with it.

Q: i got my belly pierced 4 days ago and they put a ring in and around the top hole it’s red. It does get crusty every so often but i clean it with antibacterial soap 2 times a day. im going to the store to get sea salt today but i want to know if it is infected or on the verge of becoming infected. Oh, and why did they put a ring in instead of a barbell.

A: they should of put a barbell, they heal easier and faster, im not sure why they didn’t, but once you get the sea salt stop the antibacterial soap, it’ll dry it out, if you want to use something to clean it try h2ocean or tattoo goo 🙂
