A: stage one of skin/pressure ulcers (or bed sores) is redness. if you have been laying in bed a lot or constantly having pressure on it, you may have the workings of an ulcer. keep pressure off of it. keep it dry…if it keeps getting worse, you should get someone to look at it. as long as the skin doesn’t break, it should be ok. good luck

Usually, it’s a curable cancer, but depending upon the location of it, and the size of it, there is a chance of recurrence. You didn’t mention the size of the lesion or the location, but if it’s recurred, you might want to consider having it removed via the Moh’s technique.

A chronic persistent ulcer of the exposed skin and especially of the face that is destructive locally, spreads slowly, and is usually a carcinoma derived from basal cells.What causes it?Basal cells are normal skin cells. They may develop cancerous changes, causing a lump or bump that is painless. A new skin growth that ulcerates, bleeds easily, or does not heal well may indicate development of basal cell skin cancer. This type of skin cancer has a high cure rate, but neglect can allow the cancer to enlarge, causing possible disability or, in rare cases, death.More than 90% of basal cell carcinomas occur on areas of skin that are regularly exposed to sunlight or other ultraviolet radiation. They may also occur on the scalp. The onset most commonly occurs after age 40. This cancer usually remains localised to the area of the face or scalp, where it has developed, and almost never spreads to distant parts of the body.
