A: It’s actually not that big of an issue really. I’m a nurse on a Mother/Baby unit and we see polydactyly every now and then. No, the extra digits won’t fall off unless it’s hanging by a thin thin layer of skin, it’s possible for it to get knocked off accidentally. But most of the time what they do if the extra fingers/toes have a bone connecting them, they can do a simple surgery to remove them, or if they are just connected by skin and no bone, then they can be tied off (by a Doctor). A: Do you let your dragon run free in the house from time to time? It’s possible it may have had carpet fibers come loose and wrap around his toes, cutting off his circulation. Also, if he doesn’t have enough humidity or clean water for soaking, it may have retained some of the shed skin around its toes and cut off the circulation. I took in a prehensile-tailed skink a nember of years ago that had lost 14 of its toes and had two others damaged from this (and it’s owner’s inattention to what was happening).
