Q: My mother has been smoking my entire life (I’m 20 years old, living at home) and I do not smoke anymore nor even when I did on occasion, I never smoked in the house because it honestly just grosses me out. When I’ve done business on ebay, I had a couple of people complain of the leather objects I sold that smelled of smoke (I was horribly embarrassed and I really try to keep EVERYTHING away from where she smokes or place it in storage now) She smokes A LOT, I mean at least a pack a day, and she rarely ever goes outside to light one. Even when I told her about the people that complained, she told them they were exaggerating etc. My girlfriend just today told me when she brought the clothes that she left at my house back to her home that after she noticed they reeked of cigarettes. I just feel awful, that I may smell awful too. What should I do? I’ve said to her “Mom, maybe you should smoke outside, it would make house smell better and be better for us too, and perhaps it would help you cut down if you knew you had to go outside more often etc” She just shrugs it off I think and doesn’t listen. To top it off, her father died of lung cancer. You’d think it would do anything, but sadly it hasn’t. I’m at a loss. A: I would suggest speaking to her again – or make sure a window is open when she is smoking. I am a smoker too – and of corse i sometimes smoke inside – alot of the time I can never smell it but my non smoker friends and family can and i dont want them to have to put up with the stale stench so I burn Vanilla insense atleast 2-4 min sticks a day plus when ever we are home I open all the windows and air out my house – i never get any complaints.

A: You must quit smoking cigarettes today. After only 4 years you are NOT physically addicted. Just quit cold turkey. Chew gum. Or use a toothpick if you need some oral gratification. It’s a stinky habit, and it’s not cool. What’s cool is saying “I don’t smoke.” If you quit now, in 6 months your lungs will be pink and healthy again. My husband and I both smoked at least a pack a day for over 20 years, and we both quit cold turkey, after my aunt died of lung cancer. It was so easy. The first two weeks you might miss them, but after that you won’t even miss those cancer sticks.It’s not just lung cancer. It’s mouth cancer, cancer of the esophagus, heart disease, emphyzema, and horrible coughing jags. You sound like a real smart kid. For that I’m gonna give you a star!Btw, quit the weed too.
