How long does it take for a nose piercing to fully heal?
Q: I’ve pierced my nose 7 months ago. I take it out in the shower and when I clean my face. If I don’t have a nose ring in for at least 30 minutes, I find myself having to force it in… which really hurts, and sometimes it bleeds. How long does it fully heal? Same question for my cartilage piercing as well. I pierced it around the same time, and it’s been REALLY PAINFUL. I do clean it though.

How long does it take for a lip piercing to heal?
Q: My mom said she might let me pierce my lip this summer, but school doesn’t allow lip piercings. Like how long till it’s fully healed or how long till it closes? I was thinking get it in the summer then when school starts take it off and after school put it back on. So, tell me what you think and know. It would really help! And thank you!
A: lip piercings generally take 6-8 weeks to heal. The healing time can be longer depending on how thick the area being pierced is though. From my own experience with my lip piercings, its not going to be a good idea for you to be taking out and leaving out the jewelry for an extended period for about the first year of having the piercing. Just as an example: my two and a half year old lip piercing can only be left out for around 6 hours before it starts to try to close. my 10 month old lip piercing can only be left out for 30 minutes.Every person is different, mind you, but generally speaking, if you want to keep a piercing, wear jewelry in it.if you want to keep the piercing but can’t have it at school, get a clear retainer to wear. unless someone knows exactly where to look, its not going to be obvious that its there. wear the retainer through the school week and on the weekends, wear whatever you want. There is no point in constantly switching out the jewelry even after its healed, you’ll just stress out the piercing site.
