How do you stop grinding your teeth at night [i have braces and a retainer]?
Q: I just got braces and a retainer last Saturday.braces on bottom, retainer on top..i hate them enough.. but in the morning it feels as if my teeth are going to fall out! [i have to wear them both at night]is there any way i can stop grinding my teeth??
A: Hey you should go tell your dentist as soon as you can because you are damaging your teeth and jaw! They will give you a mouth guard that you have to wear every night, the good thing is you will probably stop grinding your teeth after you lose your braces.
Non leeching mouth guard, or way to stop grinding teeth at night?
Q: Looking for an alternative type of mouth guard or way to stop grinding my teeth at night. Do not want to be chewing on and ingesting plastic each night. Any ideas?
A: I understand your concern but as far as I know that is the only option. I do not believe I have ever come across anything that says that swallowing that type of plastic is harmful. I figure it has to be better than breaking and ingesting teeth. If you were willing to spend a ton of money I bet you could find a lab who could cast a bite plate out of metal that could be attached to plastic that would normally be used for a night guard. I would think that would cost about $1000 more.
Is there a way to stop teeth night-time grinding?
Q: I already use a night-guard to protect my teeth. However, I would still like to stop grinding my teeth at night.
A: I don’t think you can stop the grinding, as your body is doing it subconciously in your sleep. My dentist once recommended me to use the night-guard to protect my teeth at night. This was the only advice he gave me. I know of no way to stop it completely. I think you’re probably doing all you can to protect your teeth. Try asking your dentist if there’s anything new on the market.
