A: Yes cold sores are herpes 1 and they can be contagious, you can even get genital herpes(type 1) from someone with a cold sore on their mouth ( with sexual contact of course.) There isn’t non-contagious and contagious cold sores, all forms of herpes can be spread, but some people do not get the virus and some people do. Some people have the virus stored in their body yet don’t know it because they don’t have outbreaks. Stress can trigger cold sores. As far as the question of immunity goes, not sure, but i think it can go away or at least not pop its “head up” 🙂
