Winter Wonderland Fun for Kids

Want to have fun this year but tired of the same snow angels, snow balls and cold, bored children? Search no further because I have come up with some great snow fun for your child’s winter including but not limited to a hilarious, headless snowman.

1. Sledding in your own yard

You don’t even need to leave your neighborhood to go sledding. Put caution signs up at the entrance of your street that warns people of children playing. Get out all of your sleds or saucers and have your kids sled around the neighborhood. Notify your neighbors and turn it into a neighborhood block party where everyone provides goodies like candy, marshmallows, and hot chocolate. As a child, my mom used to get our entire two streets to join in and even the adults would jump on the sleds and have a blast.

Cost: free-$35 per sled or saucer
Age appropriate for: 3-63
Materials: Children, Sled or saucer, Snow

2. Headless Snowmen

Plot- As your children leave the house, during a snow day, they are compelled to build the ghostly, headless snowman, which stands guard in search of his head.

No, this isn’t the classic short story written by Irving; this is the story of your children’s wintery fun.

Have your kids go outside and build some headless snowmen then have them pose with their head in place of the snowman’s head. Let your kids ham it up and have a blast taking pictures of them. Take lots of pictures and repeat each year to see how much your kids have grown and changed.

Cost: free

Age appropriate for: 3-103 (with assistance)

3. Super de Duper snowball fight

First build modest snow fort. Next fill a spray bottle with water and add a several drips of food coloring in the bottle. Mix well. Third, gather large bucket full of snow. Spray snow with colored water for colorful snowballs. Create teams and have each team use a different color. Last have them spray the snow fort walls with the colored water. My children love coloring snow with food color and making beautiful forts and castles to play in.
