Why I Hate Love

So they say it’s just a four letter word and I’m sure all of you have heard it mentioned in your life a time or two by someone who truly cared for you…maybe an uncle, friend or your mother. Maybe your spouse, partner or secret lover.

Everybody says they want it and walk around saying “show me some love” It’s symbolized with hearts, flowers and kissing doves. But what has love really done to deserve all this attention? Oh and did I forget to mention that Love and I hardly see eye to eye. Love has hurt me, deceived me and made me cry. It’s taken away almost everything I’ve had. Yes, everything I’ve owned.

It’s made me very cold, chilled to the bone. Love has changed me into a desperate fool and caused me to break every logical rule. It has gone against every thought in my mind. It led me astray and left me blind. I know you’re thinking it wasn’t love and it couldn’t possibly be what I’m thinking of.

You should know love has deceived you too if you think that everything I’m saying is untrue. If you haven’t been hurt by love then you two probably haven’t met. Love just hasn’t hurt you yet.

If you happen to see Love, tell it that I’m looking for it in the purest form – the kind that won’t put me in danger or cause any harm…the kind of love that will hold me tight and won’t leave my side if things don’t go right. The kind of love that can handle the rain and use the water to wash away my pain. The kind of Love that can erase the bad that has been done and reassure me that I am the one. The kind of Love that exists in Fairy Tales with dragons, princesses and cracked wedding bells. The kind of Love that’s forever unending, traveling with me even when my path is bending. If you happen to see this kind of love and you’re sure that it’s true…ask if it’s still looking for me because I’m looking for it too.
