Vinny Marseglia Announced as 6th Competitor in the 6th Annual Kowalski Cup Tournament

He’s not the biggest man you’ll ever encounter, nevertheless he’s absolutely one of the most unique. Always dressed in wrestling gear that resembles an artists canvas, Vinny Marseglia has been announced as the 6th competitor in this year’s Kowalski Cup Tournament. The tournament takes place on October 7th 2011. The event will be held at the Police Athletic League in Fall River, Massachusetts.

Since his arrival, like a train flying off its track, Marseglia has been in the neighborhood of unstoppable. In the last two years, the overnight success story has gone from a virtual unknown to one of the most celebrated wrestlers on the independent wrestling scene. The young athlete has been applauded as a true student of the game and having a great willingness to learn from everybody. And he has been learning from some of the most talented wrestlers in the area. Vinny started training with Spike Dudley and Mike Bennett at Top Rope Promotions wrestling school, The Lock – Up. From there, he began instruction with “Brutal” Bob Evans. Evans is known as one of the top wrestling trainers in the country. Vinny also attended several wrestling seminars in the area, including seminars with Stevie Richards and Ring of Honor’s Kevin Kelly. Marseglia made quite an impression of the veteran ring announcer, who has remained a good friend of Vinny.

Additionally, Vinny has gained a wealth of wrestling knowledge by dueling with bruisers such as Handsome Johnny, Brandon Locke, Matt Taven and Jason Blade. He also acknowledges gaining a lot of experience from his feud with Tommaso Ciampa earlier this year. On several occasions, Vinny came close to pinning the more competent veteran for the TRP Heavyweight Championship.

Although Vinny was not able to secure the heavyweight championship from Tommaso Ciampa, he still had a very accomplished year. Marseglia, along with current TRP Heavyweight Champion Matt Taven, were the final competitors in the 2010 Kowalski Cup. Although Vinny put 100% into that match, his good friend and professional rival Matt Taven was the better man that night. Vinny boomeranged back with a tremendous win over “The Maestro” Guy Alexander, Scott Reed and Frankie Arion to capture the TRP Interstate Championship.

Marseglias stock is on the rise, but he has remained humble. He knows that this is just the beginning of a very long and trying road. But he hopes that winning the 6th Annual Kowalski Cup will help him in his journey.

“I’ve been blessed with everything so far. Everybody has been so good to me. Taking a young rookie like me and helping me along the way. They didn’t have to, but they did”, Vinnie stated. “I only hope I can do them justice”.

So far, Marseglia has made everyone proud. And he will continue that trend on October 7th 2011, as he enters the 6th Annual Kowalski Cup Tournament.

Chance of Victory: There is a good chance that Vinny Marseglia will come away from the 2011 Kowalski Cup tournament as the victor. He is the current Interstate Champion, he has wrestled top athletes from all around New England for the last year, and he was a finalist in the 2010 Kowalski Cup against Matt Taven. With Taven ineligible for the tournament since he is the Heavyweight Champion, is there anybody in Vinny’s way? His stiffest competition may come at the hands of “Prodigy” Mike Bennett, who is Vinny’s good friend and wrestling instructor.
