Unique Wedding Ideas

From the dawn of time, couples have been milking the wedding scene for all it’s worth, re-using and re-inventing nuptial themes and ideas. Maybe you feel like tradition has been over-done one time too many, or that there are no ideas left for you to make your wedding unique. And while it’s probably true that most everything has been incorporated one way or another, at one time or another, there are still many ideas that you probably haven’t thought of, and that most of your company won’t have seen before. Consider these ideas, which I’ve collected as a starting point for your inspiration…

Wear a colored wedding dress. Yes, this has been done before, but it is still not tremendously common, and it is sure to go against expectation.

Put the bride in black, and the groom in white. This is a nice, drastic switch that still manages to look somehow traditional, if going for color is too much for you (or simply as an intriguing alternative that you might prefer either way).

Use green roses. These will have to be dyed (some florists might carry them, but you may have to put in a custom order), or you can look for them in silk. They’re extremely unusual, but actually very beautiful.

Put birds in your bouquet. Yes, birds. Those little fake ones that look real, which you can buy at craft stores. Use them for other decor.

You might also like to incorporate things such as peacock feathers, seashells, or even fruit.

Pattern the dress after something – like a bird, or a flower. You can create a stunning piece of unforgettable fashion with a voluptuous, layered train that falls like a rose, or by taking inspiration from things like peacocks or swans.

Wear a headdress instead of a tiara. You will be at once exotic and stunning.

Make a wild flower bouquet. You can accent it with wheat, or cattails.

Tattoo wedding bands around your fingers – definitely not something for everyone, but some people are quite taken with this idea.

Instead of sprinkling rose petals down the aisle and on the tables (or elsewhere), use pressed flowers.

If it’s an outdoor wedding, hang chandeliers from the trees. It’s a stunning effect.

Have the bride led in on a horse. You can sometimes find beautiful big fantasy-like draft horses to rent for such an occasion, or get married at a place where these animals are kept and offered for such.

Don’t be afraid to think outside the box. Get some wedding magazines and flip through them, mix and match pages that intrigue you, and simply try things out! You might be surprised what you come up with.
