The Good Cry

You may hold dominion over me

And if you strike me once, I’ll lend the other cheek

My gaze meets the winged insects halfway

While my brain waits to tell me how to behave

As raindrops race across the window

I fall into a cocoon of sleep

My dreams are wrapped with umbilical ribbons

And heaven still shines bright in the deep
