Who is the Santa at the mall? I am a very very busy person what with spreading Christmas cheer to billions of people each and every year. So a few hundred years ago I came up with an idea: I would send my elves out to gather the wishes of all the children in the world and bring them back to the North Pole.
These elves go through a special training program that teaches them to look like Santa, act like Santa, and actually believe they are Santa. Once they are trained they go out and spread Christmas cheer to the world, gather wishes, and bring them back to me at the North Pole. Some of these elves are young, some are old, some have a real beard, and some haven’t grown theirs in yet so they wear a fake one. If you ask them, they will tell you that they are the real Santa because that is what they believe in their hearts. This is why from one year to the next you may not meet the same Santa twice, he may not remember you and he may not sound or look the same. But he really is one of my elves and I really do hear each and every wish that you tell them.
I am very sorry that I could not actually be there and if you REALLY want to meet me, I live at the North Pole. You are more than welcome to come visit me anytime. However I ask that you not bring any cameras because there are a lot of people that do not like me or would want to use me for things other than Christmas or even STEAL from me! (These people are definitely on the naughty list!)
My elves are VERY smart and have come up with a lot of technology and inventions that I will use to continue to bring Christmas to everyone for many years to come. If people knew certain things about me some very bad people would do some very bad things and I would not be able to continue with Christmas. They might even start wars because of me! I don’t want people to fight over me. I want to make people happy! That’s what Christmas is all about right? So the next time you go to the mall, or you see a Santa walking around, go up and hug them, tell them what you want for Christmas and they will make sure to tell me. I promise.
If you don’t get to tell a Santa what you want there is another way for you to let me know. Each and every parent has a special connection directly to the North Pole. If you tell them, they will tell me! (or more likely, the Elf in charge of Wish Headquarters) So whenever your parents tell you that they are going to tell Santa what you did. They aren’t kidding! Their message gets sent to the elves working on the Naughty or Nice Lists and I see it when I check my list, TWICE.
