Tonight on Raw, John Cena approached John Laurinaitis backstage, while he was having a conversation with David Otunga. Cena made fun of Otunga and told him to leave the room so he and Laurinaitis could have a conversation. Cena asks for a match against Awesome Truth because he’s tired of them. Laurinaitis tells Cena he’s sick of Miz and Truth and gives Cena the match. Laurinaitis tells Cena that he will pick a partner for Cena and he agrees with Johnny Ace.
It’s later revealed on Raw that Zack Ryder will be Cena’s partner in the main event against Awesome Truth. However, Miz and Truth ambush Ryder while he’s being interviewed by josh Matthews backstage. Eventually, referees finally stop break up the attack. Miz and Truth tell Ryder that they shouldn’t be messed with and they won’t stop until Cena gets got. Cena will have to go at it alone against Awesome Truth.
Match: Despite the fact that Cena didn’t have a partner in this match, he did pretty well in this match. Miz and Truth did their best to quarantine John Cena fairly, but it just wasn’t enough. In the end, Cena attempted the AA on Miz, but the match ends in DQ, because Truth hit Cena with a water bottle.
Despite the match ending in DQ, Miz and Truth weren’t done with Cena. Both guys hit their finishers on Cena, and they got out the ring to get some chairs. John Laurinaitis comes out and stops before the attack on Cena gets worse. Johnny Ace tells Miz and Truth to get out, but quickly changes his mind. Johnny Ace tells John Cena, who has just recovered from his beating, that he can choose any partner of his choice to face Awesome Truth at S.Series.
The crowd is chanting “Rocky,” and Cena announces he will choose The Rock as his partner to face Miz and Truth at Survivor Series. Cena says he is inviting The Rock to be his partner, but we all know that this partnership has been set in stone for a while now.
