Indian Corn Party Favor

It’s exciting to make new and different foods, decorations, and table accents, each Thanksgiving. There is so much you can do with turkeys, pumpkins, leaves, acorns, and other fall-theme objects and images. You can easily create Thanksgiving napkin rings, candles, a centerpiece, and more. If you’ll be giving party favors this year you can craft the most adorable Indian corn favor for kids or adults. Filled with goodies, the Indian corn can be placed on plates, and used as table accents, as well as small gifts to your guests.

Bathroom tissue tubes are perfect for making Indian corn favors. If you’re using paper towel rolls instead, cut toilet paper roll-size pieces from them. Yellow tissue paper is ideal for making the cardboard tube look like corn kernels. Cut a piece of the paper to be as wide as the tube is long. Roll the paper around the tube so that you overlap the edges. Once wrapped, cut fringe along the edge, then tape or glue the edge. The cut fringe will look like kernels of corn when the party favor is finished.

Cut a piece of green tissue paper to be wider than the tube is long. Fold the edges of the paper to the center, and lay the roll on it. The roll as well as the edges of the paper should be horizontal. Wrap the green paper around the roll so that the ends don’t quite meet, and the yellow corn is showing.

Gather the green paper at one end and tie a green ribbon around it. At the other end, fill the tube with treats. Some things you can put inside the tubes for kids include candy, temporary tattoos, stickers, a pencil, a paper for each child to write what he or she is thankful for, markers, or even shaped erasers. For an adult, include things like candy, a pen, a flat magnet, or even a rolled note to thank the person for friendship.

After filling the tubes, tie the second end shut with the ribbon. If you want, use red, orange, and brown markers, and color some of the yellow corn to be other colors. Indian corn often features various colors of kernels on the same cob. Your Indian corn favors will look much more realistic if you color some small squares onto the yellow tissue paper.

Lay the favors on the plates so that the corn shows. If you want, write a name on each corn husk to make place markers. The Indian corn is colorful, appropriate for Thanksgiving, and full of cool things for your guests.
