Healthy Tips While Traveling in a Car

There are many advantages to traveling in a car. The first major advantage is that you can leave whenever you want and generally do not have to follow a set schedule. You can stop and enjoy the scenery, and get out stretch and enjoy some good conversation.

Healthy Eating

Take healthy snacks in a cooler pack for the trip. Pack cut up veggies, fresh fruit and slices of cheese and turkey. Have plenty of water to drink as you go along. This will not only save you dollars, but avoid the temptation to stop at fast food restaurants. If the weather permits you can stop for a picnic and enjoy the outdoors. When you get hungry for a munch have some baked chips and trail mixes that you make yourself. Include raisins, raw nuts and chocolate chips.

Exercise:

If you are passenger you can do several different exercises. Take along a light pair of weights and do some easy movements, being careful not to hit anyone. Lift your feet off the ground and put back down several times. When you make a stop stretch all your muscles and run in place for five minutes.

Keeping Busy:

Some of you may be able to read in the car, and then it is easy to find something to occupy ourself while traveling. For others you may want to make mental lists of things to do, imagine a project you are working on or if you can enjoy some knitting or sketching. There are many car games to play like counting license plates, trivial pursuit or twenty questions.
