George Clooney Charms the Oscars

The Oscars sure do love George Clooney.

Not only did the handsome, witty, silver-haired actor, director, and writer snag a best actor nomination for this year’s Academy Awards for his role as a Hawaii dad in “The Descendants,” but it’s Clooney’s fourth Oscar acting nomination to date. He picked up best actor nominations for “Up in the Air” in 2010 and “Michael Clayton” in 2008. He won a best supporting actor award in 2006 for the oil-industry drama “Syriana.”

Clooney, ever the Renaissance man, was also nominated in 2006 for both best director and best original screenplay for the newsroom drama “Good Night, and Good Luck.” He was left out of the best director race this year for political thriller “The Ides of March,” but snagged a best adapted screenplay nomination for co-writing it.

With his girlfriend Stacey Keibler potentially on his arm come Oscars time, Clooney may take away gold again. Even if he loses, he’ll still have that charming, Clooney-esque smile.
