Designing with Baskets

Using baskets for more than just carrying fruit or a picnic lunch might seem strange, but baskets work great as an interior design décor design. Home accessories and decor like baskets can bring a room to life in many different ways. From a basic basket to a whole room full, use this guide to getting the most out of using baskets in your interior design project.

Bathrooms and Laundry Spaces

Baskets can come into play in bathrooms and laundry spaces as not only a great home decor accessory, but also one that is functional as well. A bathroom is almost always in desperate need of storage space for towels and toiletries. Sliding baskets that fit snugly in cubby holes help to create an elegant solution to keeping your hairbrushes and cotton swabs at bay. Baskets that set on top of counter spaces work great for storing smaller loose items like fingernail polish, lotions and makeup cases. Small baskets can be a great place to store fragrant soaps and candles. Laundry spaces can use baskets on top of washing machines and dryers to hold detergents and stain removers that clutter up laundry areas.

Bedrooms

Baskets don’t have to be functional to be a great addition to your home décor. Hanging wall art made from a collage of antique wooden baskets can be the perfect touch to any chic design theme. Baskets can also provide a great place to display elegant flower arrangements and other floral décor. Throw out the flower vase and say hello to a basket in the bedroom space.

Kitchens

While most of us think of wooden baskets when we think of designing with baskets, metal baskets made from brass, silver and aluminum can really make a kitchen space feel luxurious and artsy. Metal baskets can hold fruit or vegetables with ease as well as just being a wall hanging or the like. Hanging metal tier baskets can be used to attractively display and keep vegetable items like potatoes, carrots and onions from spoiling in a good looking display.

Living Rooms

Coffee table and other furniture’s are often cluttered from magazines and other reading materials. Store these everyday items away in a woven basket. Firewood and other fireplace gear can be attractively displayed in a fireproof metal basket. Small display baskets work great for keeping table decorations in place in an eye appealing design scheme that prevents small tables from looking over cluttered and busy.

Entryways

When guests arrive with their everyday gear like umbrellas, purses and canes, it’s a good idea to have a secure storage space right by the coat rack. A basket can add the ultimate storage space for your foyer that looks like a million bucks. Large and elongated baskets are perfect for canes and umbrellas. Shorter wider baskets are great for shoes and purses.
