At the Bend cyclocross race Saturday, October 29th, in the start area, 3 racers caught my fancy! The reason being that they had Wolves on their jerseys! Now, I am kind of partial to Wolves and am excited to know that two males from the Imnaha pack have been GPS tracked right here to Central Oregon, ostensibly the first wolves in this area for a hundred years! Well, as we all know, some folks are not too excited about Wolves coming to Oregon, so I had to put the question to these lovely women. “Hello, my name is Laurence and I write for Yahoo contributor, and I would like to know if you support the return of Wolves to Oregon?” They glance at each other, and then turn, smiling bright, with a resounding “Yes!” Well, the reason I asked,” I say, “is that if you are going to wear emblems of wolves on your cycling clothing, I think you should support the return of Wolves to Oregon!” So, I ask for their permission to take their pictures and write an article on the subject, to which I get another resounding “Yes!” So I think, if enough folks think welcoming thoughts about Wolves, we may actually get to see more than just graphic designs of Wolves in these parts before too long, and won’t that be a kick in the pants!
