Christmas as a Child

I sat and I waited for Santa to come,
I couldn’t resist from waking my mom.

“Go to sleep or Santa will never be here,”
“But mom, I can’t wait till Christmas this year!”

She put me to bed and told me to rest,
“Ok, I will try my best.”

My head hit the pillow, but to avail,
I couldn’t sleep without a Christmas tale!

“Twas’ the night before Christmas…,” My mother began,
And soon I was dreaming of gingerbread men.

I awoke to excitement the very next day,
It was Christmas at last, time for me to play!

I ran down the stairs,
I looked at the tree.

And soon there I sat,
My presents and me!
