A Look Back at “Dancing with the Stars” Winners (Season 1-12)

Season 1: Kelly Monaco and Pro Partner Alec Mazo. Monaco, currently stars in “General Hospital.” Besides being an actress for ABC’s daytime drama she also is a humanitarian having worked in Kenya with the Feed the Children program.

Season 2: Drew Lachey and Pro partner Cheryl Burke. Lachey is obviously the brother of Nick Lachey. After winning the mirror ball trophy he went on to become involved with ABC. He also co-hosted “DWTS” during the fifth season. This set the way for his job as a host where he has hosted the 2006 Miss USA pageant, guest host on “The Price is Right,” and was a part of “Showdown: Battle of the Bonus Rooms.”

Season 3: Emmitt Smith and Cheryl Burke. Since then, Smith has been inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame for his work as a running back for the Dallas Cowboys. He’s also the Co-Founder of ESmith Legacy, Inc.

Season 4: Apolo Anton Ohno and Julianne Hough. Ohno won the silver and two bronze medals in the 2010 Winter Olympics and is the most decorated Unites States athlete in the winter games.

Season 5: Helio Castroneves and Julianne Hough. He also won the Indianapolis 500 and Indy Japan 300 the next year (2010). Since then, he has become an author and father.

Season 6: Kristi Yamaguchi and Mark Ballas. After winning the mirror ball trophy, Kristi continued her fundraising events for Always Dream Foundation. The foundation’s purpose is to inspire the dreams in children. She then, she has become a mother and is married to Bret Hedican, a Pro hockey player.

Season 7: Brooke Burke and Derek Hough. She is currently the co-host for “DWTS.”

Season 8: Shawn Johnson and Mark Ballas. Shawn is currently back in training for the 2012 Olympics, has launched a cheerleading line with GK Elite Sportwear, and was a celebrity judge for the 2010 Miss America Pageant. For her 18th birthday she carried the Olympic torch in Calgary.

Season 9: Donny Osmond and Kym Johnson. Since, he has headlines in Las Vegas, hosted radio shows, and meets fans in Vegas.

Season 10: Nicole Scherzinger and Derek Hough. She went from the Pussycat Dolls to guest roles on television. She is currently releasing a new album and is a judge on Simon Cowell’s “The X Factor.”

Season 11: Jennifer Grey and Derek Hough easily won season 11, despite injuries.

Season 12: Hines Ward and Kym Johnson swept the dance floor going on to claim season 12 victory. Fans loved seeing the NFL champ dancing and showing his out of the box personality on “DWTS.”
