What Does Ron Paul Have to Do to Win the 2012 Republican Nomination

Unlike the other Republican Nomination candidates, Representative Ron Paul has remained concistent. The consistency is seen both in his political views (he has always been against the Federal Reserve, long before it became popular) and in his popularity. His supporters have been consistently at 12 -14 %. The majority of the time, Representative Ron Paul finishes in the top 3 of Republican Nomination candidates. He has won several straw polls in key states, and his campaign in the chosen campaign for Americans in the military. And yet, despite his completely honest, sane and consistent views, Representative Ron Paul can not break into the mainstream. And this is why.

Representative Ron Paul is boring and only wants to talk about the facts. Oddly, this is what his supporters are attracted to. He only wants to talk about the problems and then tell people his long-winded solutions. He doesn’t create good 10 second sound bites and he doesn’t have any slogans that get the mainstream excited.

Now I know what you may be saying. You might be telling yourself “that’s what makes him different.” And you’re right, it is what makes him different. But different doesn’t always catch peoples attention. And in a political race, your job is to whet the appetite of the majority voter with a sound bite or slogan, in hopes that they will then do more research on the campaign.

A year ago, Ron Paul came out with a book called “End the Fed.” The book was a complete success and resonated across America. That success was due in large part to the three easy words that got right to the point. End the Fed. Representative Ron Paul and his campaign should have kept this slogan. “End the Fed.” It rolls off the tongue very easily and gets people thinking. Had the book been called “The Federal Reserve Has Established an Immoral Code of Conduct That Needs to be Abolished,” it would have failed.

On one of the many political driven shows recently, Ron Paul made a case on why there should be no income tax. NO INCOME TAX. How exciting. The American people would jump at the opportunity to hear how Ron Paul would get rid of the income tax. However, when Representative Paul gets on mainstream shows, he doesn’t create any excitement or sound bites about no income tax. And its an issue that would blow the roof off his campaign.

Another problem with Representative Ron Paul is his slight stutter and inability to capture the imagination of the American people. People want to hear the issues, but they also want to relate to a character. The reason Herman Cain came out of nowhere and made a huge impact was because he showed up with a boisterous attitude and a few nice catchy slogans. Ever hear of 9-9-9? It put Herman Cain on the map.
Ultimately, I have no political experience so I don’t know what would or wouldn’t work. What I do know is I think Ron Paul is the greatest chance of turning the economy around and he needs to do something to get the attention of America.
