Treating Arthritis with Aroma Therapy

Arthritis is a condition with symptoms of inflammation, pain, stiffness, limited movement and a very uncomfortable aching in the areas that are affected by the condition. There are actually over one hundred types of arthritis by the most common types of arthritis are rheumatoid arthritis, gout and osteoarthritis. No matter what type of arthritis you may suffer from one thing is for sure and that is it a very uncomfortable condition.

Arthritis is the breakdown of cartilage which is what protects the joints which allows them to move smoothly and absorb the shock and pressure that is put on a joint during movement such as running, jumping and walking. When the cartilage breaks down the bones start to rub together which in turn causes inflammation, stiffness and aching pain.

Most people who suffer from arthritis tend to notice that it flares up and gets worse when the weather gets cold or even when it is going to rain. Sometimes arthritis will clear up on its own but most of the time it doesn’t because it is chronic arthritis and arthritis can affect men and women. I have been working with herbs and essential oils for natural healing for over 25 years.

Below you will find some formulas that I have created and worked with to bring relief from the inflammation and pain caused by arthritis. The formulas are in two steps. Choose a formula and follow both steps. Directions are as follows: Step one: Run a hot bath and mix in the Epsom salt and oil while the water is running. Relax in the bath for at least 15 minutes then follow step 2. Step two: Mix these oils together well. Apply and massage the mixture into the area(s) affected by the arthritis.

Arthritis #1

Step 1

Ingredients:

2 Handfuls Epsom Salt

4 drops Peppermint Essential Oil

Step 2

Ingredients:

2 drops Chamomile Essential Oil

2 drops Lavender Essential Oil

3 drops Peppermint Essential Oil

1 tsp. Vegetable Oil

Mix these oils together well. Apply and massage the mixture into the area(s) affected by the arthritis.

Step 1

Ingredients:

2 Handfuls Epsom Salt

4 drops Eucalyptus Essential Oil

Step 2

Ingredients:

3 drops Ginger Essential Oil

4 drops Rosemary Essential Oil

1 tsp. Vegetable Oil

Step 1

Ingredients:

4 drops Chamomile Essential Oil

2 Handfuls Epsom Salt

Step 2

Ingredients:

3 drops Ginger Essential Oil

2 drops Peppermint Essential Oil

2 drops Rosemary Essential Oil

1 tsp. Vegetable Oil

Step 1

Ingredients:

2 Handfuls Epsom Salt

2 drops Ginger Essential Oil

2 drops Peppermint Essential Oil

Step 2

Ingredients:

2 drops Frankincense Essential Oil

5 drops Peppermint Essential Oil

1 tsp. Vegetable Oil

Step 1

Ingredients:

2 Handfuls Epsom Salt

2 drops Lavender Essential Oil

2 drops Peppermint Essential Oil

Step 2

Ingredients:

2 drops Chamomile Essential Oil

5 drops Rosemary Essential Oil

1 tsp. Vegetable Oil

**Note: These are formulas that I have created and worked with over the years. Be sure to wear gloves when working with essential oils in their pure state and they should always be diluted with a carrier oil. Test a small path of skin with a tiny bit of the formula to make sure that you do not experience an allergic reaction before you use it on a large area of skin. No liability can be taken by me!**
