The Awakening

My words go unheard
My sacrifices for you never recognized
As long as you are noticed
My laughs become forced
As a result from my cries being ignored
As long as you are able to laugh freely
My screams quiet
And my fears never addressed
As long as you remain calm
This is what you expect
But from your hold, I have awakened
My words will be spoken loudly
My sacrifices are no more
My laughs filled with sincerity
And my cries unhidden
My screams unneeded for
My fears will be known
So I may finally take back
What you’ve stolen from me
One day, I will become a mere memory
And your dependance on me will be forced to cease
And when I reflect back on my life
The regret for wasting my caring
for the ignorant
Will NOT be one of mine
