Star Wars: The Old Republic Becomes the New Computer Gaming Sensation

Star Wars: The Old Republic, has been long awaited by Star Wars fans. This game has amazing graphics, with an adequate graphics card that immerses the player into an online Star Wars universe. It is also a massive online multi-player role-playing game or MMORPG, meaning you play online via the internet and there are other players that log on to the server and play in the same realm. If you are a fan of Star Wars, you will love this game. If you are unfamiliar with Star Wars, the game is still entertaining to play.

A few of my favorite things . . . in a game

When I play a video game, one of my favorite things is the graphics. Gaming graphics and movies have improved greatly over the years. Star Wars does not disappoint the gamer, when it comes to visuals. The worlds may have been what fans have envisioned and the game brings them to life.

The second thing that I really love about this game, is that you customize your characters. In Star Wars you pick your side first. You can be a part of the Republic or a part of the Sith empire. This means you are following either the good, or bad force energy. You can then fully customize your character, after picking a race. As with most MMORPG’s each race has different social abilities. These abilities are attributes the characters can use in the game. Examples of these attributes are shadow boxing, being able to punish enemies, or even inspiring loyalty from those around you.

After character creation

Once you have created your character and chosen your path, you enter the world. The start point in the game is determined by what race and affiliation you chose. From there you complete quests and fight enemies for gear, rewards and experience. One of the most interesting aspects of this game, is that you can choose your answers when in conversation mode. Let’s say you pick a quest and talk to the quest giver. You usually have three options to answer them with. Based on your answer, it changes the quest givers answers. Your responses ultimately set up your future in the game. This is in regard to your future quest interactions. Essentially, the answers you give map your character for a particular destiny.

Fun “In Game” stuff

There are flying taxis, droids everywhere, and even holograms. Having a chance to wield a light saber, even in a virtual world, is awesome as well. There are even social centers where players can come together online. There is a codex of new items that you keep. Using the codex, you get to learn more about the story, places, worlds, people, and creatures. This is done by collecting new entries. The game can be replayed from different races and affiliations. All the player has to do is create a new character. The gamer can make multiple characters, regardless of prior affiliation.

The game is a great edition to the Star Wars lore of the Old Republic. This is the storyline of events set before the prequel movies. For fans it is an interactive chapter of the ever progressing Star Wars stories. But for someone who lacks Star Wars knowledge, it weaves an independent storyline. It does not rest on the others before it; or rather after it.
