In an eerily familiar story, Robyn Gardner, a 35-year-old Maryland resident has been reported missing from a favorite Aruban vacation spot, the Renaissance Aruba Resort and Casino in Oranjestad. It was only five years ago Alabama teenager, Natalee Holloway, went missing while in Aruba on a high school graduation trip.
Holloway, like Gardner was staying at the Renaissance Aruba Resort and Casino, and her body has never been recovered. Gardner has been missing since August 2, reportedly after going snorkeling with Gary Giordano, also a Maryland resident.
Giordano told Aruban law enforcement authorities that he and Gardner went snorkeling together, but that Gardner never made it back to shore. Giordano was intercepted by authorities while trying to leave the island. Reportedly, Giordano has told authorities more than one version about the time leading up to Gardner’s disappearance.
Apparently, Gardner’s boyfriend, Richard Forester, was not aware that Gardner was vacationing with Giordano, and believed she was vacationing with family in Florida.
Robyn Gardner is described as being 5 feet 5 inches tall, weighing 130 pounds, having blond hair, brown eyes, and distinctive tattoos on left arm, rib cage, and right bicep.
