Review of Prestige Waterproof Eye Pencil in Surf

Prestige eyeliners have gotten a lot of good press from what I’ve read of their reviews. But it doesn’t seem like they are widely used because of the difficulty of getting access to these products. I have found Prestige products in Rite Aid and in local drugstores in my state. I finally decided to try out this eyeliner after longing to find a nice navy blue eyeliner. This eyeliner was about $5 or $6, though this price will vary based on your region.

This eyeliner is often said to be produced by the same manufacturer of MAC’s Powerpoint pencil, which I think is definitely a possibility, though I won’t say they are exactly the same product. This eyeliner glides on really smoothly, as it is fairly creamy, though it is not so obnoxiously creamy that it will need sharpening a lot, which can really wear down pencils. Thus, it doesn’t tug on eyelids, which can be good if you’re worried about wrinkles and signs of aging. I’m really pleased about the texture of this product.

This pencil does take a little bit to set, which means you can smudge it and blend it out for a bit before it sets. I’ve tried blending this product as a base to a smoky eye, and it works really well for those purposes. One thing I’ve been a little disappointed about is the pigmentation of this pencil. I wish the color was a lot more vivid with one swipe, though it certainly builds up to the color that I want and expect of eyeliners. This is probably the worst aspect of the pencil, though I certainly don’t think it means this product is a fail.

The lasting power of this pencil is definitely really nice as well. Prestige claims this pencil is waterproof, and I will say that it is quite close. It won’t last if you go swimming and decide to rub your eyes, but it will definitely last throughout the day without smudging and giving you raccoon eyes, which is definitely a plus for me, as I don’t really have the time to touch up during the day. I’m really pleased with the waterproof claims of this eyeliner and will definitely recommend it to anyone worried about smudging.

I don’t think that a black color of this eyeliner will meet your expectations if the pigmentation of this product is consistent over different colors, but I definitely think it is a great product that I will continue to use. It is a beautiful navy color with a hint of brightness and is incredibly flattering on many eye colors. I really want to try out other colors, such as the forest green of this product.
