Pujols Hits Three Homers as Cardinals Win Big in Texas

Albert Pujols recorded six RBIs as his St. Louis Cardinals hammered the Texas Rangers tonight 16-7 in game three of the World Series at The Ballpark in Arlington, Texas
Allen Craig put the Cardinals in the lead first in the opening inning with a solo home run.
There was a questionable call in the fourth inning when Cardinal’s Matt Holliday was called safe at first base when it looked as if Mike Napoli of the Rangers tagged him out. This was a big break for the Cardinals and they took full advantage of it.
David Freese drove in Holliday from second later in the inning to make it 2-0. Both Lance Berkman, Freese scored on a throwing error by Napoli, trying to get the force out at the plate. Yadier Molina scored on a single by Ryan Theriot to make it 5-0.
Texas produced a little offense of their own in the bottom of the inning.
Michael Young led off the bottom of the fourth with a solo home run. With one on base, Nelson Cruz hit a home run to cut St Louis’s lead to 5-3.
St Louis did not quit, though, as they scored three more runs in the fifth inning. First Freese drove in Pujols on a routine ground out. Molina then drove in Holliday and Berkman on a two run double.
Texas answered back in the bottom of the inning when Young drove in Elvis Andrus with a RBI double. Adrian Beltre made it 8-5 by driving in Josh Hamilton with a RBI single. Texas cut the Cardinal’s lead to 8-6 when Napoli drove in Young from third base with a sacrafice fly.
At the top of the sixth inning, Pujols hits a three run homer to make it 11-6. Molina then made it 12-6 when he drove in Holliday with a sacrafice fly.
At the top of the seventh inning, Pujols struck again by hitting a two run homer to make it 14-6.
In the bottom of the inning, Texas added one more run with a sacrafrice fly by Napoli, driving in Beltre from third (base).
At the top of the eighth inning, Molina drove in Daniel Descalso with a RBI double.
At the top of the nineth inning, Pujols hits another home run to give his team a nine run lead.
Both teams scored a combined 23 runs in the game.
