Jesus is the Son of God

I was raised in the Baptist faith which means I was taught and believed in the trinity doctrine. I believed that God was in three persons; God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. I no longer believe that is true. I believe that God is God, Jesus is Jesus and the Holy Ghost is the Holy Ghost, but there is only one God and that is God alone.

I can support my belief that Jesus is not God with one single verse that cannot be argued against and that is the following passage of Scripture…

1Corinthians 15:28 And when all things shall be subdued unto him, then shall the Son also himself be subject unto him that put all things under him, that God may be all in all.

In this passage we see clearly that Jesus, who is the Son of God, will be made subject to God. Obviously Jesus is not God as people believe he is. While 1Corinthians 15:28 supports my belief on its own I am including a few other passages of Scripture that further supports my belief that Jesus is not God.

Matthew 26:38-39 Then saith he unto them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful, even unto death: tarry ye here, and watch with me. And he went a little further, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt.

If Jesus were God, he would not have feared death and asked for this cup to pass.

James 1:13 Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man:

Hebrews 4:15 For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.

James writes that God cannot be tempted and the author of Hebrews writes how Jesus was tempted every way we are but did not sin. Therefore, Jesus cannot be God because then Satan could not have tempted him.

Matthew 16:15-16 He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am? And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.

Jesus asked his disciples who they believe he is and Peter said Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the living God. Peter didn’t say that Jesus was God in the flesh. Jesus didn’t chastise Peter saying he was wrong. Jesus blessed Peter commending him for his belief.

As Peter stated, Jesus is the Christ, the only begotten Son of God sent by God to die for our sins so that we can be saved. As Christians we are to worship God and rejoice in Jesus our Lord and Savior.
