Insider Deals for Frankenmuth, Michigan

Even though Frankenmuth is one of the most popular tourist towns in Michigan, most visitors do not take advantage of the great deals that the city can offer. As someone that has gone to Michigan’s Little Bavaria on a regular basis for many years, I know of deals that only the most experienced would know about. These are my personal favorites.

When to Go

There are many special events that are held during the year. Whenever the calendar gets closer to one of these events, the prices at the hotels go up. Weeks that are between events, or the week after Christmas are the best weeks to go during the year. At times, hotel rates can be half of the average price for the year and many of the restaurants and shops have deals as well. You can check out the calendar of events on the city’s website to learn when the off weeks are.

Winner Winner – Cheaper Chicken Dinner!

Zehnder’s is one of the most popular places to eat in Frankenmuth. You do not need to spend $20 per person for the all-inclusive chicken dinner. You can go downstairs to the buffet style. You can get extra of all of your favorite sides and eat all of the chicken that you can for half the price. Sometimes, you will even find coupons around town for the buffet. Now you can have more money to spend in the local shops.

The Lure of Sale Fest

Sale Fest is one of the busiest times of the year in Michigan’s Little Bavaria. These two days in May are the ones in which all of the shops in town offer their best deals of the year to clear out old merchandise. This weekend is a bit of a tourist trap. The hotels cash in due to the fact that rates are increased and many of the shops cash in since most of the coupons that you might come across are not available during this event. A few days after, the rates go down and much of the sale merchandise is still reduced.

Coupons

The front page of the Frankenmuth website has a link to a Bavarian Coupon Booklet. It should be noted that many of these coupons expire in November. I would fully expect that a new booklet would be uploaded at the beginning of each year. Inside, you will find coupons for dining, hotel stays and many of the popular shops and services around town. My family (of three) used this coupon book during the summer and saved over $200 on shopping and events that were already on our itinerary. There is also a “Deals” section on the website that has revolving coupons to check out.
