Halloween Celebrations in the Central States North and South 2011

Halloween is upon us, muhaha, and it’s almost time to dress up, feast on candy and basically have a haunting good time. Below, in no particular order, find a few things to do in some of the central states in the US.

Thrillvania-Thrill-Park

From September 23rd – October 31 (around 7:30pm – midnight), Thrilllvania will live up to its name. The park was featured on the Travel Channel, go through the Labyrinth of Terror and eight different attractions that take up fifty acres of scary land. Must buy tickets, and they start at $13 depending on age and type of pass. Days and times vary. Located in Terrell, Texas about forty minutes East of Dallas.

Pooley’s Pumpkin Patch

Nebraska is not only about the cows. Enjoy pony rides, a petting zoo, face painting, campfires and so much more at Pooley’s Pumpkin Patch. Contact or check website for varying dates and times. Located only about ten minutes of Omaha in Bennington, Nebraska. Don’t miss their half price weekend – 9/23 – 9/25.

Wisconsin Feargrounds

Located in Waukesha, Wisconsin, less than a half and hour west of Milwaukee, you will find three haunted houses in one location, and that could be the ultimate scare. Don’t be scared when you hear the story of the witch and her eight sisters that still lurk the premises. Open mainly on weekends in October, with a few special week days, you must buy tickets for this venue that start at $13.

Walk in the Park: Halloween Hike Nights
Enjoy a one mile guided hike with costumed characters along a path lit only by jack-o-lanterns. The event is FREE and happens every fifteen minutes on the specific nights, October 28 & 29, between 5:30 pm and 8:30pm. You must preregister. Located at the Peter Norbeck Visitor Center in Custer, South Dakota.

Michigan Witches Ball
On October 15th, witches, pagans, goth’s, indigos and many more are welcome at the Michigan Witches Ball. There will be vendors, music with dancing, appetizers and an open bar. Opens at 11 am and is an all day affair. This years theme is Through the Looking Glass. Event is free and open to the public.
